Today is the last day of February an i hope you all enjoyed the "Musical Month Series of Rajasthan".

Jaipur City Daily Photo Blog always tries to show you something different and really appreciated your Great Response towards Turban Month,Rajasthani Women Series and Musical Series of Rajasthan.

This Month would be celebrated as an "Elephant Festival Month" and i would be sharing the images of Beautifully decorated elephants.

I hope you would enjoy the series the way you loved the previous ones.

In India tomorrow we are having "Holi" which is Color Festival and my wishes to all for a Lovely,Peaceful and Happy Life.

Rajasthan Musical Month # 21 -Matka

This Instrument is known as "Matka".This is used for storing the water and also used as an Instrument to play music.Trust me it makes wonderful sounds.

Rajasthan Musical Month # 20 -Khartal

This Instrument is known as "Khartal".Each kept in a hand and then played.

Rajasthan Musical Month # 19 - Chimta

This Instrument is known as "Chimta".Saints use this as a musical instrument.

Rajasthan Musical Month # 18 - Nagada

This Instrument is known as "Nagada".There are two Drums one small and other one bit larger and they both the played with two different sticks.Generally played during Weddings.

Rajasthan Musical Month # 17 - Dhol

This Instrument is known as "Dhol".Played with Sticks.Used generally in Weddings and small parties.Big Sound.

Rajasthan Musical Month # 16 - Algoja

This Instrument is known as "Algoja".This instrument is played from nose.

Rajasthan Musical Month # 15 - Shehnai

This Instrument is known as "Shehnai".This is played generally on the occasion of Wedding.

Rajasthan Musical Month # 14-Harmonium

This Instrument is known as "Harmonium".It is more or less like a CASIO.

Rajasthan Musical Month # - 13 Been

This Insteument is known as "Been".This is used by Sapera's (A Caste who catches snakes).

Rajasthan Musical Month # - 12 Flute

This Instrument is known as "Flute".Made up of Bamboo.Very Tuft to play but yes sound is great.

Rajasthan Musical Month # 11 - Damru

This Instrument is known as "Damru".Two ropes in between with knots tied at end and when Twisted both the knots hits the Base and sound comes out.This Instrument is the one that Lord Shiva-The Destroyer uses.

Rajasthan Musical Month # - 10

This Instrument is known as "Tambura".More or less like a Sitar.5-6 Strings.

Rajasthan Musical Month # 9 -Chang

This Instrument is known as "Chang".Played at the time of Holi (The Festival of Colors).

Rajasthan Musical Month # 8 -Dholak

This Instrument is known as "Dholak".Made up fo Wood oval in Shape.Both the ends are plated with Goat's Flesh.Combination music is great.

Rajasthan Musical Month # 7 - Thali

This instrument is known as "Thali".This is a Brass plate a thick one and a Wooden Stick.When hit on the Thali sound comes.Beautiful Instrument.

Rajasthan Musical Month # 6 -Manjira

This instrument is known as "Manjira".It is basically two small plates tied with thin rope.When come in contact create amazing sound.Used only by the Saints or in Temples.For more information on Rajasthani Music please check Unseen Rajasthan.

Rajasthan Musical Month # 5-Ghunghru

This instrument is known as "Ghungru".They are tied in legs and as per the leg movement they make beautiful sound.Their sound is unique in their own.Generally used by Dancers to create a combination sound.

Rajasthan Musical Month # 4 - Tabla

This instrument is known as "Tabla".This is a set of two drums and is generally played.You can see a Sign in read color on the "Tabla" this represents that this is used for mythological activities and is dedicated specifically for that purpose.

Rajasthan Musical Month # 3- Tanpura

This is known as "Tanpura".Generally used by the Saints and vocal singers.The sound quality if simply great and music is very soothing.

Rajasthan Musical Month-# 2-Sarangi

This instrument is known as "Sarangi".This is used by te Folk Rajasthni Singers to provide music when they sing.It has 5 Strings in it and the wooden rod used to play is having the hair of Poly.It makes beautiful sound.To listen how it sounds please check unseenrajasthan.blogspot.com

Rajasthan Musical Month-# 1-Pungi

This Musical instrument is known as "Pungi".This is made of deer thorn.This is used by the Saints who live in Forest .The one in the photo is of Female and it makes beautiful sound.One of the Saint gifted this to me during his visit to my home.In old times it was used by hunters to attract animals.
